Sears, the commander of the Small-Boy Unit, had named the child Jack after the code name of the Mitsubishi J2M3 Raiden Fighter.

Over time, when Jack was barely at the age of ten. He made platoon leader of the Devil's Army because of his skills as a Soldier. He would kill on command and never questioned why. If he was given a weapon and a number of victums, he would complete what was asked of him. These events soon earned him several nicknames such as White Devil from the local african tribes and Jack The Ripper

Sears,also the murderer of Jack's parents, was impressed with the boy's skill and adopted him as his own son. Despite the war going on, Jack and the man formed into a true "Father-Son" relationship.

When the war ended and Jack's "father" left Liberia to go run for president. Jack and other survivors of the war were taken in by NGO's, giving Jack a new life in the states. There his memory of the War was manipulated, trying to erase Jack's knowledge of even being there. Though in Jack's nightmares images of the war always haunted him, causing him to be afraid of the night.

After Jack transferred to New York, now being the age his early twentys, worked for the newly formed Fox-Hound. There he trained in several VR missions. Basic missions at first but then missions based on the events what the legendary Solid Snake did himself including Shadow Moses, Zanibar, and Out Heaven; though those events were inaccurate. The more Jack learned about Solid Snake, the more of a fan he became of him and always wanted to live up to his standards.

 On April 30th 2007, Jack saw this women, Rosemary, who was just a little younger than himself, surrounded by tourists. The tourists were a group of middle-aged japanese women who had asked the women "which building did King Kong climb up in the movie?"

The women answered " The Chrysler Building", which Jack knew was wrong. After arguing with her and claiming it was the Empire State building which King Kong climbed up, and the Chryslet building was in Godzilla.

They decided to go to the Skyscraper Museum as they argued all the way to Battery Park. After they realized the Museum was closed, they went their sepperate ways but soon were reunited  out in the base corridor, both supposily working at the same place.

The same night, she and Jack went to the top of the Empire State building and looked down on the Chrysler building from a hundered and twenty stories above, it over-whelmed Rose. Though Jack knew deep inside that he had seen much scarier things in his past.

Later that night, they watched King Kong several times in Rose's apartment and didn't sleep till morning. Their first date, and the first women Jack was falling in love with. Even though Jack would spend a night of passion with Rose, he would either leave her when she fell asleep or stay awake all night, due to the nightmares of his past.

Even though Jack was in a relationship with Rose, he would never open up to her, afraid to let her know about his murderous past. Though one day Rose became worried and barged into Jack's room and was in shock to find that his room only consisted of a bed and desk, it was more like a prison cell. Jack, in fusteration, hit Rose for doing it. He regrets hitting her even to this day.

On April 29th, 2009. After having completed three-hundred missions in VR, Jack earned the code-name Snake; the second highest rank in Fox-Hound. He was very proud to have been given that title, the same title that his role model had been, though he had been dead for the past two years.

His first mission was to rescue the hostages and the President who was taken captive in an offshore cleanup facility constructed off the New York's coast, The Big-Shell. The terrorists titled themselves "The Sons of Liberty".

Dressed in Fox-Hound's Skull Suit, which resembles the uniform of the Symbiote Spider-Man with a skeletal design on the chest and silver protective gear around parts of the dark blue suit.

After entering the facility, Jack is informed that his code-name Snake will have to be changed to Raiden, because the leader of the Sons of Liberty identified himself to be Solid Snake. Though he was against the thought, he agreed to his new alias and even kinda addapted to it.

Though Jack never could believe that his hero, Solid Snake, was now a terrorist. He continued the mission along with his mission commander Colonel Campbell and his girlfriend Rosemary, the one he's been with for the past two years, who worked as his analyst.

Durring the mission, Jack joins forces with a surviving SEAL soldier Iriquois Pliskin who saves him from being slautered by DeadCell member, Vamp.

Pliskin and Jack join up and were forced to dispose of C4 by freezing them with the help of Peter Stillman, an expert at bomb disposal. This ended up being a trap for activating bigger bombs that were more dangerous. Stillman died in the process of disposing the packs of C4 in Shell 2 while Raiden froze the C4 that was activated in Shell 1.

He then met  DeadCell member, Fortune, in front of the elevator and Raiden found out that there was nothing to do but skillfully dodge her attacks and wait for the elevator to come down, for no bullet could hit her, and grenades became duds at her feet. After a battle Vamp appeared, and the two of them talked giving Raiden the chance to aim another bullet at Fortune which reflected off her and hit Vamp in both waist and Head. Raiden left the crying Fortune and "dead" Vamp and was offered a challenge by Fatman, a member of DeadCell who was the madman behind the bombs. Raiden managed to kill Fatman and defuse his last attempt to create an explosive legacy for himself.

 Leaving the grave of Fatman, a Cyborg Ninja much like Gray Fox from Shadow Moses who introduced himself as "Mr. X. " arrived to the scene and gave him an enemy uniform, a cell phone, an ID card, and told him where he could get the assault rifle which he needed to equip with the uniform. He them told him the President's location is known to someone named Ames who should be held hostage with the other hostages. With a Directional Microphone Jack found, he clothed himself in the terrorist's B.D.U and located Ames by hearing his pacemaker and they talked.

Ames told Jack where the President was located but Ocelot noticed them and while Ames tried to cover it up, Ocelot drew out his gun and laughed at how he failed his job working for the Patriots. Ocelot aimed his gun at Ames, but his pacemakers was turned off by his nanomachines by the Patriots, and he looked at Ocelot yelling how he tricked him, and he died. Ocelot pulled off Raiden's mask and was nearly close to killing him, but Mr. X jumped down, planning on cutting off his hand much like Gray Fox had done in the past, but failed. Shielding Jack with the H.F Blade, he managed to escape the hostage room and went after the President.

After disabling all of the bombs on the Shell 1-2 Connecting Bridge, Pliskin called Jack and informed him that a friend of his, Otacon, was going to fly a Kasatka to save the hostages. Jack knew Otacon was involved from Shadow Moses, and Pliskin seemed very suspicious. Just then, a shadowy caped figure was on the other side of the bridge, and he introduced himself to Jack as Solid Snake. Pliskin yelled back at the figure that HE was not Solid Snake, and Jack relized that Pliskin was Solid Snake all along. Snake fired his M4 and then launched a grenade from it, knocking the figure off the bridge, now identified as Solidus Snake and almost took Jack with him.

But just then, Vamp saved Solidus with his Harrier 2. Snake threw a Stinger missile launcher down to Jack and they took on the Harrier 2, and succeeded. It crashed against the side of the bridge, which just barely hit Jack as he dodged the wreckage; which caused Solidus sever damage to his left eye. Right then, Metal Gear RAY rose from the waters and saved the Harrier from sinking. Vamp ran on water and escaped into the Big Shell, as Solidus escaped into RAY. Snake then admitted he was Snake and what Otacon and him were doing at The Big Shell.

Jack then climbed across the damaged bridge carefully and reached the President who was guarded by an electrical floor. Using a Nikita missile launcher, he disabled the electrical floor and met the President, who told him a lot about the Patriots and Solidus' ambitions. Also revealed was the fact that there were over twenty Metal Gear RAYS, and they were protecting Arsenal Gear, the gigantic new Metal Gear which was beneath the Big Shell! Then an optical disc with the digital FoxDie virus was handed to Jack and Johnson ordered him to execute him so the terrorists wouldn't be able to activate Arsenal. Jack persisted not to, but Ocelot walked in and did the job for him. Jack began to run after Ocelot but the President held him back asked him to look for an Emma Emmerich before he died.

Jack was then forced to swim through the hallways that were flooded due to the C4s that killed Stillman, whose dead body was found underwater. As Jack searched for Emma, he met Vamp and was forced to take him on. After sending Vamp into the blooded water, Jack met Emma, and while Emma didn't like the idea of swimming, he convinced her to be carried by him. They needed to get the FoxDie computer virus to destroy G.W., which controlled Arsenal. But the bridge to Shell 1 was destroyed by the Harrier, so they had to walk across a heavily guarded oil fence, which could only support enough weight for one person to walk across it at a time.

Jack and Snake used PSG-1s to shoot down Cyphers and enemy guards that were assigned to the oil bridge. As Emma came closer to Shell 1, Vamp jumped out of the waters and held Emma hostage. Jack managed to shoot Vamp off, but Vamp managed to give a deep wound to Emma before he fell back into the water. Snake ran down and carried Emma to the computer room so she can set up the FoxDie virus as Jack ran across the bridge and went off to the computer room.

Finally arriving to the computer room, Jack saw Emma dieing in Otacon's arms and almost lost it as his sister passed away before him. Even more sad was the fact that the FoxDie virus, close to completion, was stopped by an anti-virus program. Snake managed to convince Otacon to rescue the hostages in the Kasatka, and after Otacon left, Snake asked for Mr. X to appear, who appeared to be Olga. It seemed like Snake had betrayed Jack as Olga's blade knocked him out, and brought him into Arsenal as Snake managing to sneak in as well.

Jack then woke up strapped naked to a torture device, relizing that Solidus and Ocelot were interrogating him in what looked like a replica of the Shadow Moses torture chamber. Solidus revealed himself as Jack's godfather, George Sears, who took him into war. Olga walked in, waited for Solidus and Ocelot to leave, then called him on the Codec, telling him why Snake was working with her, why she was actually working against the terrorists, and how to get his equipment, and his clothes, back. Olga was a spy for the Patriots sent in to help Jack, because if Jack dies so does her child who was taken by the Patriots.

Jack then was released from the device and snuck to the hallway where Snake was supposed to meet him at. The Colonel started acting and sounding very strangely as Raiden snuck his way naked to the hallway, waiting for Snake. He gets a call from Rose, and Rose admits to being a Patriot spy all along and was formed into the girl that Jack always dreamed of having. Jack was very outraged and felt betrayed though Rose tried to convince him that she really does love him and still does. She then gets cut off by the Patriots as she tells him that she's pregnant with his child.

 Snake then appears, gives him his equipment and Olga's Blade. They talk on the Codec and Jack asks Otacon to locate where The Colonel's messages are coming from. They enter a long giant hallway, and a Cypher catches them, and a large army of ninja guards jump down. They fought side-by-side to defeat the army. Then Otacon tells Jack that The Colonel is in G.W.. He is an artificial replica of Colonel Roy Campbell and was affected by the FoxDie virus, which still effected the system. As for Rose, Otacon wasn't sure. Raiden didn't know what to believe in then. Did he have sex with an AI?! Confused, but confronted with another army of Tengu ninja guards, they fought. After the entire army of Tengus died, Fortune walked in with tears and confronted Snake. Snake said he'll fight this and Raiden should just climb up the stairs to the surface.

Though against emotions, Jack climbs the ladder and faces the sound of Solidus's voice, telling Jack that he has formed into the killer he was in the past once again and was to be tested by defeating the army of Metal Gear Rays surrounding Arsenal!

Using the Stinger launcher, Jack pushed his skills to the limit as he faced the deady demons of metal. Though he fought with all he had, it wasn't enough and soon collapsed to the ground. Failing Solidus's test, he walked closer to his fallen son with intentions on killing the incarnation that his murderous son had become.

Suddenly out of nowhere, Olga arrives and protects Jack with her life, which Solidus soon takes from her with a bullet through her skull. Solidus then turns around to face another problem, the remaining Metal Gears which were infected by the Patriots! Quickly destroying them, he then returns toJack once again.

Weakingly distracted by Olga's corpse, Jack is grabbed by Solidus's metalic octopus arm and has a gun aimed at his head.Since he now knew his life was a lie, part of him wanted Solidus to finish off this "life" he had lived. Though Solidus was convinced that Jack still had some perpose and kept him alive. Jack then turned his head and saw Snake walking handcuffed towards him, Fortune's gun pointing at his back.

Jack loses conciousness for a while and as he wakes up, he notices that he has been stripped of his weapons and is also handcuffed. Raiden, still dazy from being held by the neck for so long, is soon strangled by Solidus Snake, but he fights past it and is thrown to the ground.

Revolver Ocelot soons arrives to the scene and explains to all of them that he was never on any of their side, and is truly one with the Patriots (a pawn of them, not actually "them")and that all of this was just a test of S3 program. Fortune is then shot and dies slowly as Ocelot tells her that her perpose is no longer needed.

Ocelot then gets into the Metal Gear and readys himself to "clean up the aftermath". He then releases Metal Gear Ray's full attack on Solidus Snake, the dying Fortune, and the hand-cuffed Solid Snake and Jack.

Fortune though stands in front of them all and telepathetically causes all the missles and bullets to miss all of them, proving that she is indead Lady Luck. She then passes away

Though all were protected, Solid Snake's handcuffs were hid by a bullet, releasing him. Ocelot tries to attack once more with the Metal Gear's Ray, but soon Ocelot's mind switches with Liquid Snakes! As Liquid makes off with the last Metal gear Ray. Solid Snakes races after him, leaving Jack and Solidus Alone...

Arsenal gear then crashes in Manhatten, causing them both to fall onto the roof of Federal hall. Solidus laughs and states that it's April 30th, nearly the 200th anniversary of when the Declaration of Independence was signed. Jack gets a call from The Colonel and Rose, but it's actually a Patriot computer codenamed "J.F.K." which perhaps means former president John F. Kennedy. The Colonel states that the S3 plan is not "Solid Snake Simulation" but a way to manipulate people's mind.

Then the Colonel states that they still have Rose, and Jack must complete the mission by killing Solidus or Olga's baby and Rose will be killed. Solidus then admitted he was his parent's killer and they fought as Solidus throws Jack back his HF Blade, causing it to break through the handcuffs.

Jack and Solidus battle in a clash of blades but as Solidus slashes a blade at Jack, Jack bends out of the way and Slashes his blade at Solidus's body, causing it to rip through his armour and flesh.
Solidus looks at Jack and then falls off Federal Hall and onto the statue of George Washington, where he passes away.

Jack, now battle ravaged, stands on the streets next to Federal Hall, watching as the crowd around him grows.

Jack, now knowing that his whole life was formed from the Patriot's idea, was about to break down. Though his mentor and friend, Solid Snake kept him focused enough to complete his task and stop his father's plans for liberty. Snake then asks Jack who's name is on the dog tag he's wearing around his neck. Jack, looking rather confused of why he was wearing a dog tag around his neck, looked at it. His eyes focused on the name, his Real name, or at least once was. He throws it away into the streets and tells Snake that he never met the person before. 

Rose then walks up to him, asking for him to forgive her for lying to him.To believe that she does infact love him, and for him to love her for who she really is. Jack agrees and tells her that she and the baby is what he will fight for, to pass along to the future.

Remembering the lessons he learned that day from Snake, and free from the control of others, Jack lives his life to his own design. Whether or not Jack...or whatever he choices his name to be...will join up with Snake again remains a mystery. For that choice, is his alone.
